Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday received at Al Bahr Palace members of the national committee for the World Energy Congress (WEC).

Shaikh Mohammad received the committee on the occasion of the UAE winning the bid to host the WEC in 2019. The members were accompanied by Suhail Mohammad Al Mazroui, Minister of Energy and chairman of the committee.

Shaikh Mohammad said that the status achieved by the UAE as a prominent and influential nation in various fields, particularly energy, is the result of the directives and efforts of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to harness all capabilities to achieve the highest levels of progress and prosperity.

Shaikh Mohammad said that the UAE’s fine reputation among the international community and friendly relations with countries around the world contributed to its win to host various international organisations, events, forums and conferences. He expressed his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to countries for supporting the UAE’s bid.

Shaikh Mohammad hailed the efforts of the national work team that culminated in this success. He urged them to exert more efforts in preparation for the conference in a way that reflects the UAE’s reputation and urban development.

Al Mazroui thanked the wise UAE leadership for their directives and support for the nation’s progress in all fields, including the energy sector. He stresssed the UAE’s balanced policies and vision for this vital sector which plays a key part in growth and development.

Present during the meeting were Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and other shaikhs and senior officials.
