Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday received at Al Mushrif Palace, Nicos Anastasiades, President of Cyprus, who is on an official three-day visit to the UAE.

Anastasiades was accorded an official reception in which the national anthems of the two countries were played. Later, he inspected the guard of honour and was given a 21-gun salute.

Shaikh Mohammad and Anastasiades discussed relations between the UAE and Cyprus, and ways to develop them for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Anastasiades and his accompanying delegation, and expressed his wishes that the visit would contribute to enhancing bilateral relations and achieve the aspirations of both countries to open broader avenues of cooperation in various fields.

“We are very keen on advancing our relations with Cyprus and achieving more success by setting up various partnerships in different areas for the mutual benefit of both nations,” said Shaikh Mohammad. “Exchanged visits are a key aspect for exchanging ideas on building bridges of cooperation and outstanding bilateral relations in all areas, particularly economy and trade,” he added.

Anastasiades hailed the rapid development achieved by the UAE.

During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad and Anastasiades discussed ways to support trade partnerships, continuing to develop relations in the field of culture and education, and expanding the scope of cooperation in the health care sector.

Present during the meeting were Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other shaikhs and senior officials.
