His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Wednesday received the visiting Head of the Presidential Council (PC) of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al Sarraj, at Al Shati Palace.

Shaikh Mohammad discussed with Al Sarraj and his accompanying delegation bilateral relations and ways to enhance them in the best interests of the two fraternal countries and peoples.

They also reviewed the latest political, security and economic developments in the Libyan arena, national reconciliation and the regional and international efforts exerted in this regard.

Al Sarraj briefed Shaikh Mohammad on steps being implemented by GNA to speed up the national reconciliation, reach consensus among various Libyan parties, and enhance political partnership among them, as well as the Libyan government’s efforts in the fight against terrorist organisations.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi emphasised the keenness of the UAE led by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to support the efforts of the overall Libyan national reconciliation aimed at unity and solidarity for the security, stability and the future of Libya as well as its efforts to fight violence, extremism and terrorism.

Shaikh Mohammad wished success for Libya and its people in their efforts to restore security and stability to all parts of Libya and to work on its development and prosperity in all fields.

Shaikh Mohammad confirmed the UAE’s solidarity with the fraternal people of Libya and wishes to restore stability and role as an actor in the region.

He also pointed out the support of the UAE for the Libyan Government of National Accord as it works along the international community diligently and faithfully to support the Libyans to get out of this crisis together, united and look forward towards an optimist and positive future.

Al Sarraj extended thanks and appreciation to the UAE for its permanent support and efforts to build Libyan’s national institutions and provide various humanitarian initiatives which contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Libyan people.

Among those who attended the meeting were Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr Anwar Bin Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ali Bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary General of the National Security Council, and Mohammad Mubarak Al Mazroui, Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi.
