Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received John Boehner, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, and a number of members of the US congress.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Boehner and his accompanying delegation and expressed his hope their visit would help them gain a closer insight into the UAE’s cultural and historical components as well as into its economic, political and social systems.

Shaikh Mohammad discussed with the US delegates the friendly relations between the UAE and the US and ways to bolster them in the service of the common interests of both countries and their people. They exchanged fraternal talks on bilateral relations, especially trade partnership, as the UAE is considered one of the most important trade partners of the US.

The talk also touched upon cooperation on the health sector, which is given a special importance by the UAE, with a focus on the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi — a multi-speciality academic medical centre — which is under construction and is expected to open soon.

Shaikh Mohammad briefed the delegation on the key themes on which the UAE vision is based under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He outlined that human resources are the most important element in the UAE Vision, as they represent the real driving force behind progress and development and the most important factor to make sure development will continue and maintain national gains.

Shaikh Mohammad referred to the foreign policy embraced by the UAE to work with brotherly and friendly countries as part of collaborative global efforts to ensure stability and development in the region.
