Fast & Furious star Michelle Rodriguez is making the most of her stint in the UAE.

The 35-year-old American has been staying at Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace to shoot the seventh Fast & Furious. But she made time over the weekend to attend the final day of the annual Dubai Beach Polo Cup held at Skydive Dubai on The Palm Jumeirah on April 12.

There was no doubt that the actress, who made her breakthrough as a troubled boxer in the film Girlfight, enjoyed her time at the polo competition.

“This is a completely new experience for me. I have never seen beach polo before,” she told tabloid! as private security guards tried to wean her away from a crowd interested in selfies.

“I love the horses and I love watching the people who are so skilful on horseback playing such an elegant game as polo. It’s so beautiful just watching them,” she added.

Asked to describe the impression Dubai has had on her, Rodriguez exclaimed: “Beautiful.”

Rodriguez added: “I love Dubai as it’s very exaggerated here. It’s like nothing is ordinary. It’s like everything has to be in some way extra-ordinary.

“I always have a blast when I come here,” she beamed as she was ushered away.

Rodriguez and her F&F castmates — Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson and Vin Diesel — are shooting in Abu Dhabi until the end of this week. Next month she and her 21-year-old supermodel girlfriend Cara Delevingne have reportedly confirmed to be off to a Marrakech wedding next month. The wedding won’t be their own, however; it’s Cara’s sister Poppy and her fiance James Cook who will be tying the knot in Morocco.

With her films grossing more than $5 billion (Dh18.3 billion) collectively, a 2013 Entertainment Weekly article described Rodriguez as “arguably the most iconic actress in the action genre, as well as one of the most visible Latinas in Hollywood”.
