Dubai: Motorists faced major delays on Wednesday as one accident near Dubai Design District affected several popular routes used by morning commuters.

At around 8am, Dubai Police reported an accident along Ras Al Khor Road, opposite Dubai Design District in the direction towards Abu Dhabi.

Motorists were warned to take extra caution while driving and to take alternative routes.

To add further woes to drivers, multiple accidents were reported on Hessa Street and on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road (MBZR) near the Al Khail Road intersection, Abu Dhabi bound.

A six car pile-up was also reported on MBZR before the Al Khail exit, which worsened the traffic flow in and around the area.

Traffic snarls could also be seen on Shaikh Zayed Road heading to Abu Dhabi, and on all routes heading into Dubai from Sharjah.

Some congestion was also reported on D83 from Mirdif towards Dubai Festival City.
