Sharjah: The Sharjah Police arrested an Arab man for stealing money from several stores in Sharjah's Eastern Region.

In the most recent case, police received a call from employees at the store reporting a theft, said Lieutenant Colonel  Ali Al Dhanhani, Head of the Criminal and Investigation section at Eastern Region Police.

According to the police report, two men came inside the store and wanted to buy a container of lubricating oil for a car. While one man made the order and paid Dh500 for the container costing Dh50, the other distracted the storekeeper by ordering several items after the latter returned the balance amount of Dh450.

Then, the first man declared that the had changed his mind and wanted to return the container of lubricating oil. The distracted shopkeeper then returned his Dh500. After receiving the money, the duo left the shop.

After the shopkeeper realised that he was scammed, he reported the incident to the police, who formed a team and identified the suspects. One of them was arrested while the other has fled the country.

A manhunt is ongoing to find the second suspect. 

Meanwhile, police have arrested the first suspect, who confessed to committing the crime. The case has been referred to the public prosecution.
