DubaI: A jobless man has denied the accusation of sexually abusing and molesting his mentally-challenged mother inside his bedroom.
The 37-year-old Emirati defendant was said to have exploited, according to prosecution records, his mother’s mental illness and abused and molested her while he was under the influence of liquor.
Dubai prosecutors charged the defendant with abusing his mother sexually after having consumed six cans of beer in May.
The suspect stood trial before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday.
Prosecutors are seeking a temporary imprisonment (three to 15 years in jail) against the defendant.
One of the suspect’s brothers testified to prosecutors that the 37-year-old has been allegedly abusing their mentally-challenged mother since 2010.
“The suspect is used to consuming liquor and drugs. He constantly abused our mother sexually. I once saw him in an allegedly awkward position with her inside his bedroom. In a separate occasion, I once allegedly saw him sleeping over her… and once I also saw him taking her into the washroom,” claimed the brother.
Meanwhile the defendant’s younger brother claimed to prosecutors that the housemaid informed him that she saw the 37-year-old dragging his mother into his bedroom.
“When I saw him from the window sleeping over her, I broke down the window. The suspect panicked then and opened the door… he seemed confused and scared as he was intoxicated,” claimed the younger brother.
A policeman testified to prosecutors that the defendant was drunk at the time of his arrest.
The suspect was cited claiming during prosecution questioning that he consumes more than six beers daily.
