Mamta Mohandas is indeed on the top of the world and living life to the fullest.

A cancer survivor, Mohandas has been part of a clinical trial at University of California, Los Angeles, since 2014.

This year she has been living mostly out of a suitcase than her apartment in Los Angeles. Besides doing the film Thoppil Joppan with Mammootty, she has been singing shows in 16 cities in the USA for the past month.

Moving to the USA in 2014 for treatment and fending for herself has given a new meaning to her life.

“I rediscovered myself,” said Mohandas.

“Thoppil Joppan is a clean family entertainer,” she said.

Mohandas plays a medical student, Maria, who is in her residency year. At a medical camp, Maria bumps into Joppan, a middle-aged bachelor with a love for the game of kabaddi. Joppan has quite a reputation among women and with a past relationship leaving him unhappy, Joppan finds solace in the bottle.

Thoppil Joppan is directed by Johny Antony and brings back Kaviyoor Ponnamma after a long time as Joppan’s mother. The supporting cast includes Andrea Jeremiah, Salim Kumar and Renji Panicker.

Thoppil Joppan releases in the UAE on November 10.
