Abu Dhabi: The Arab character of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and his deep love for young people of the Arab nations are the main reason behind his launch of the International Institute of Tolerance and Mohammad Bin Rashid Tolerance Award, Shaikha Lubna Bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance said yesterday.

In a statement, Shaikh Lubna said, “We are used to see our wise leadership launching regional and international leading initiatives that aim to enhance and promote the values of peace, dialogue, understanding, respect, solidarity and rejecting all forms and manifestations of differences, division, intolerance, exclusion, hatred, discrimination, racism and sectarianism.

She extended her thanks and appreciation to Shaikh Mohammad for his leading role in calling on everyone to adhere to his/her common human values and open channels of dialogue, communication, cooperation and solidarity with others instead of isolation, wars and fanaticism.

Shaikha Lubna said the UAE seeks to nurture the values of tolerance and coexistence based on firm principles.

Describing the UAE as a state of tolerance, cooperation, solidarity, which respects and accepts other cultures, Shaikha Lubna said that the newly launched award and institution are part of the National Tolerance Programme.

She addressed the vital national responsibility that falls on the shoulders of various institutions, media, cultural and literary bodies and their pivotal roles in ensuring the sustainability of coexistence, tolerance and dialogue values for next generations through enriching the cultural, media and educational content with sound content that reflect the tolerance of Islam and authentic Arab values and morals.

Meanwhile, Brigadier Ahmad Khalfan Al Mansouri, Secretary General of Mohammad Bin Rashid Tolerance Award, said the award reflects the leadership’s keenness towards leading the world in tolerance and peace through its glorious past in those two fields and its competitive future plans that allow anyone from any place in the world to participate.
