Sharjah: The Kalba Bird of Prey Centre has announced its entertainment shows for the winter season, with live demonstrations of birds of prey to be held from October until April 2017.

The shows, to be held at the centre’s amphitheatre, introduces visitors to trained birds of prey in an attempt to both entertain and educate them through informative sidelights about all the birds, including the endangered ones.

The Kalba Bird of Prey Centre operates under the umbrella of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah and is open to visitors every day except Monday.

Shows are held every Sunday to Thursday (except Monday) between 10am and 4:30pm, on Friday between 2pm to 4:30pm, and between 11am to 4:30pm on Saturday.

Beyond the show, visitors can explore the world of birds of prey, learn more about their species and families, their lifestyle and breeding habits.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of EPAA in Sharjah, praised the continuous support of Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his instructions to the authority to preserve the environment, protect and breed endangered species, and maintain their natural ecosystem.

“The Centre strives to revive the heritage and traditions of the region and to introduce its visitors to these magnificent birds for both entertainment and education purposes. This will make the community aware of the birds’ environmental and cultural importance,” Al Suwaidi said.

The Kalba Bird of Prey Centre was inaugurated in January 2014.
