As I write this, a lovely ray of sunlight falls on my hand. It feels great.

People who stay in London say the weather is extremely unpredictable — it drizzles one minute and is bright and sunny the next.

We've just returned from the Parkside “pick your own'' farm in the Middlesex area.

The weather was cool but sunny, with cotton puffs of cloud floating in the sky. We picked luscious strawberries and blackberries, succulent plums and some veggies.

The farm had divisions of lush green fields and apart from the fruits and vegetables I mentioned, provided us with an array of other choices — and there would be even more in the next few months.

Since it was a Sunday and it hadn't rained, lots of people visited the farm. But needless to say, it had enough supplies for all.

The fruit was immensely enjoyable. My cousin, Shrey, decided upon a unique way of savouring them. It was an experience I will never quite forget.

Cackle of fun

The previous day, we had visited Ruislip Lido, a manmade lake in Harrow, where we had had the opportunity to see ducks and swans up close.

Formerly a canal reservoir, Ruislip Lido is a favourite West London attraction.

Swans and ducks waddled out of the lake to crowd around us, some even ready to fight for a piece of bread. It's amazing how these birds are hungry despite being fed by visitors.

And this was only the beginning of a memorable holiday. Most tourists concentrate on visiting the well-known places only, but I believe sites such as these are just as enjoyable
and deserving of attention.
