Gulf News: What is your view on efforts to diversify the UAE's revenue sources?
Al Harbi: The UAE has wisely implemented a strategy of economic diversification, which I believe is the only way to sustain progress and ensure the long-term sustainability of the country. Dubai has been the leading proponent of the programme to expand the country's economy, and the emirate is now enjoying the fruits of its labour.
Gulf News: What is your insight into the investment atmosphere in the UAE?
Al Harbi: The investment atmosphere in the UAE has improved tremendously in terms of investment opportunities and investor-friendly policies. With its banking and financing sectors consolidating and expanding, there is now also a wide range of investment facilities and services available to several types of investors.
Gulf News: Which areas in infrastructure development have contributed significantly in the business and investment sector?
Al Harbi: The ongoing mega projects to develop the country's infrastructure facilities reflect the total commitment of the UAE government to strengthen the country's position as an international economic powerhouse.
Surely, infrastructure development is a basic and essential component in the progress of any society, and a prime consideration for foreign organisations interested in investing in the country. By upgrading its infrastructure for utility, IT and telecommunication services among others, the UAE is not just catering to the existing requirements of the various sectors of the society, but is also preparing to address the challenges of the future.
Gulf News: The UAE government has been widely supportive of the activities of various economic sectors. How do you perceive these efforts?
Al Harbi: Again, this is an indication of the positive attitude of the government towards socio-economic development. All these efforts to reach out and strengthen various sectors of the country and enhance the economic policies and atmosphere make the transition of the UAE towards becoming a highly-developed economy a lot more easier.
Gulf News: How do you evaluate the UAE's leadership and its support pertaining to Gulf investments?
Al Harbi: From the outset, it is clear that the UAE has been under the guidance of visionary leaders. The able leadership of the country's rulers has been a huge factor in all that the country has achieved, particularly in terms of widespread economic development over the years.
One of the key areas that have been given close attention by the UAE's leadership is the investment sector, as this represents one of the biggest potential for long-term growth.
In fact, we can now clearly see the results of the government's focus on strengthening the country's investment climate as the world's leading investors and corporations have now established their presence in the country, while new business ventures are being established at a rapid pace.
