Cheers to Charo

Model Charo Ronquillo is making waves on the international fashion scene.

After becoming the first Asian to land in the top three of the Ford Supermodel of the World competition, Charo Ronquillo is making waves in the international fashion scene as one of New York's most sought- after models.

Following in the footsteps of Anna Bayle and Melanie Marquez, the 20-year old stunner has appeared for Lacoste, Armani and Kenneth Cole, among other top brands, in Vogue and Glamour.

She's also been a favourite of Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's. Just recently, at New York Fashion Week, Charo walked the ramp wearing clothes from fashion houses such as Prada, YSL, Marc Jacobs, Valentino and Vera Wang.

Before becoming a model in the Philippines, Charo tried her luck in GMA's Starstruck, but wasn't chosen as one of the finalists. So, Pinoy showbusiness loss is the fashion world's gain.

A blockbuster love team

Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion come together in a movie.

Richard Gutierrez, who remains one of GMA-7's most bankable stars, has signed a one-picture contract with Star Cinema. He will star opposite KC Concepcion.

GMA Films had earlier sent feelers about producing a film starring two of the industry's hottest young stars. And so it came as a surprise when its rival network, Star Cinema, came out with the big announcement of the stars first movie together.

Revive

Our mole says GMA Films will be coming up with a surprise of its own, as part of the compromise agreement with Star Cinema. This is a team-up that everyone hopes will help revive the movie industry and public's interest in Filipino movies.

Bea is Betty La Fea

Betty La Fea is hitting Philippine TV, and the plum role for the hit series is going to Bea Alonzo. The programme is based on the popular Colombian television serial, which has seen various adaptations in many countries, including the Emmy award-winning series Ugly Betty.

The series is expected to give Bea's small screen career a big boost following Maging Sino Ka Man Book 2, a soap which pundits say failed to meet expectations as far as
ratings were concerned.

The much-ballyhooed series ended with a whimper and failed to match up against its rival programmes in other networks.
