Gulf News: How many years have you been in the market?

D'Souza: Dulsco started its operation in the UAE in 1935; that's seven decades back. We commenced our operations by outsourcing manpower in the stevedoring business. From then on, we have moved to manpower outsourcing in various other industries.

Gulf News: What was the reason for starting a manpower service company?

D'Souza: The primary reason was demand driven. There was a need in the market, which we catered to as we had the vision and means to do so. Further, many investors like to take the plunge while not bothering on head count, thereby preferring to have outsourced staff. Eventually, this has become the business model in this region and we have been growing as the businesses of our clients have been witnessing growth.

Gulf News: Why and what makes a company take on outsourced staff?

D'Souza: In an ideal situation, a company would like to work on the business goals without the hassles of manpower management. The laws and regulations in this country makes it more complicated to recruit, employ and retain manpower. Dulsco HR Solutions with its seven decades of experience in the manpower outsourcing business have the skill to get the right people, at the right place. The companies rely on us for outsourcing the appropriate manpower to them while they concentrate on business objectives.

Gulf News: What does a company look for when they outsource staff?

D'Souza: They primarily look for a reliable, dependable partner and who has experience in the market. They also look for partners like us who can provide large numbers and at times in short duration. In this competitive environment, pricing also plays a role. However, we have seen that quality of manpower supplied is the most critical factor.

Gulf News: What is the changing scenario in this business domain you have witnessed being such an experienced player?

D'Souza: Over the years, companies are realising the benefit of outsourcing manpower. This is more evident at the blue-collared levels. The fact that we have grown to the level that we have 5,000 workers on our payroll shows that this is an evolving market and more and more companies are joining the bandwagon.

Gulf News: How do you see this market in the future?

D'Souza: As mentioned, I see a growth in this market. In the competitive environment, companies want to focus more on business objective and less on manpower. Hence, I see a good future in this market.
