Blur have been announced as the Saturday night headliners for this year’s Isle of Wight festival. The reunited four piece join Fleetwood Mac, the Prodigy, the Black Keys and Pharrell Williams on the bill for the festival, which takes place from June 11-14. The show will come before their headline slot at Hyde Park in London, which takes place on June 20.
Guitarist Graham Coxon promised the shows would not be the same as their first round of reunion shows, which began in 2009. “These summer shows are going to be quite different to the gigs we did a few years back,” he said. “We’re excited to play the new record live and we’ll have some surprises in store for the fans, too.”
Blur recently announced their first album with their original line-up since 13 in 1999. The Magic Whip will be released on April 27, with Damon Albarn saying of it: “There’s nothing pastoral about it — it’s very urban.”
