Dubai: BMW Group Middle East recorded a 34 per cent rise in sales in the region since November, according to Middle East Managing Director Guenther Seeman.

This is due to designs getting better and customers looking for high quality vehicles, he said.

BMW unveiled its new Z4 Coupe during the 8th Middle East International Motor Show 2005 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The new design aims to push sales even further.

The vehicles will be ready to drive away in mid-2006, following production at the BMW factory in Spartenburg, South Carolina, US, with the first vehicles being delivered to Middle East customers shortly afterwards.

"We know the model will sell quickly in Dubai. They will sell like hot cakes," said Seemann.

"The Z4 Coupe is a genuine pacemaker for the sports car aficionado in every respect," said Seemann. "It makes the heart of the sports car enthusiast quite literally skip a beat."

He added that the Z4 Coupe is a pacemaker for the sports car fanatic and is setting trends in design, motoring concepts and technology.

"This is the kind of car only BMW engineers and designers could create, a two-seater to which they have given all their passion. By creating this unique car, BMW is once again setting new trends in design, motoring concepts and technology."

The concept car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just over 5 seconds.

"With the traffic situation here and higher petrol and living costs that we all fall victim to, the Z4 Coupe is focused on less fuel consumption for customer satisfaction," said Seemann.

BMW group said the company learns to adapt to different lifestyles, with the Middle East being an important market. BMW's biggest potential market is currently India.
