  • The new Cooper could be powered by BMW's new three-pot engine range.

Since its 2007 debut, the Mini Cooper has been under the surgeon’s knife more times than Cher. But, unlike her, it’s ageing.

A revised hatch is in the works and should be with us by 2013.

It’s expected to share its platform with many new small BMWs but that familiar boxy Cooper styling will remain intact.

It’ll borrow heavily from the Countryman and the Paceman concept but the interior will be totally different.

The big news is the centre-mounted speedo is replaced by a more conventional instrument cluster and dash. No!
