Abu Dhabi: Emirates Motor Company (EMC), the auth-orised distributor of Mercedes-Benz cars in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, is targeting sales of 4,000 units in the emirate in 2009, Irfan Tansel, EMC's general manager told Gulf News on Sunday.
He did not, however, say how many vehicles EMC, a member of the Al Fahim Group, has sold in the emirate this year to date, or what the sales target is for 2008.
EMC has motor vehicles that sell in a price range that begins at Dh80,000 and goes up to Dh2.5 million, said Tansel.
An EMC statement said the company recorded a 23 per cent year-on-year rise in sales in May, selling 237 vehicles, as compared to 193 during the same month a year earlier.
EMC said the sales were led by luxury sedan S-Class, the entry-level C-Class and the mid-size vehicle, E-Class, adding that the sales of Mercedes' SUV range were also steady.
