Floral Fancy
The 1960's floral phase is back on trend and this time with a contemporary twist as seen from the latest launches from DVF and Crate and Barrel's Marimekko range. You can opt for some bright retro colours or toned down pastel shades such as in Diane von Furstenberg's collection. For an instant colour effect, you can't go wrong with Missoni Home's latest duvet covers and pillowcases. All of these labels have an impressive thread count when it comes to the bedroom linens so you don't have to worry about compromising on the quality and comfort when choosing this bold and bright look for your boudoir.
Natural Monochrome
This theme is all about achieving easy elegance with a fresh spring ambience all-year round. Stick to monochrome colours and create a romantic atmosphere with crisp bed linens and pillow cases with pastel colours and botanical prints. There's no set rule when it comes to matching bedroom sets, so you can shop around and select pieces from different stores. Q Home Decor has some great armchairs and beds with a similar style and ID Design is worth visiting for low occasional tables and bedside tables with a modern glossy finish.
Royal Opulence
All that glitters may be gold if you opt for the regal route for your bedroom. You don't need to have the Midas touch to emulate this opulent look; introduce a few select pieces - a vintage-inspired bedside table or ornate gold-leaf lamp- to achieve an old-world charm without appearing over-the-top. Add character by using golden accessories and soft furnishings or experiment with gold lighting to create a dramatic style statement.
Pure Luxury
We love this mix of metallic sheen and luxurious fabric in the bedroom. A warm purple hue for soft furnishings adds depth and texture to the cool chic scheme. "A luxe theme is all about layering and sumptuous fabric. Try velvets and brocades, furs and taffetas anchored with cottons. The key to keeping all of that fabric looking luxurious is to use great-quality fabric and stick to your colour scheme," says Caroline Farrel, interior stylist. By blending the highlight colour of purple with silver accents such as a throw, cushions or chaise, creates a grandiose feel that's perfect for a luxurious bedroom.
Tribal Route
Animal lovers can go as wild as they want with the prints and numerous materials in this bedroom theme — think texture, earthy colours and a hint of the wild to fully embrace the safari lodge Out of Africa theme. Summon up the allure of the savannah with a warm palette of cream, taupe and terracottas.
One of the fun elements of this theme is that you'll come across plenty of natural handmade accessories, bed linens, cushion covers and rugs in local stores such as Indigo Living, Andrew Martin, THE One, Marina Home Interiors and Harvey Nichols' home department. You'll find a good mix of traditional and contemporary decor in all of these stores.
"A bedroom with a tribal theme is all about getting the right balance between detail and comfort," says Lorraine Frey, spokesperson of French textile brand, Pierre Frey, whose Zen collection has plenty of natural materials like linen and cotton and comes in beautiful urban shades.
