  • Harford feels “living in a smaller apartment is cosier and allows you to think about and do a lot more with the space you have. There’s no reason not to mount things to walls and re-paint to liven up the space."

Apartment owner Tim Harford says he purchased his home in Lake Terrace tower in Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) three years ago because of the immense potential the area showed. “Turns out I made the right decision for myself. The amazing high-rise view of the lakes paired with the landscaping in the area – which have come together really well – and close proximity to the Marina, stylish cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and public transport make day-to-day living a pleasure.”

Harford believes the potential is still burgeoning. “I think there’s plenty more to come from JLT in the coming year. I expect to see many more bustling restaurants and cafés around the terrace’s edges, although without the hassle of having to deal with their construction. All the buildings in the area are almost finished, which means that the views from the upper floors of Lake Terrace won’t be obstructed in the future.”

We contacted a residential leasing consultant from Better Homes, and she agrees with Harford. “Lake Terrace is certainly in an ideal location,” she says. “It’s right by the Metro station and the established community means the area is sufficiently built up already. All the apartments at Lake Terrace face the lake, Jumeirah Islands or the Marina skyline.”

Talking about the amenities that come with all Lake Terrace apartments, she adds, “Living in the building means one gets access to a well-equipped gym, a large pool for adults and paddling pool for kids, a steam room and sauna. The kitchens are equipped with white goods and, depending on the owner of the apartment, some spaces may be furnished upon lease or purchase although this is never guaranteed. Each apartment has parking spaces – how many depends on the number of rooms the flat offers. There is also ample space for guests to park.
Harford adds, “The maintenance staff at Lake Terrace are really friendly and professional. They respond quickly and provide inexpensive and efficient solutions to any everyday problems one might face, like a broken geyser or faulty plug points. A proactive ‘Voluntary Owner’s Association’ is also available to all tenants. The association is actually in the process of taking over management of the building from developer Damac.”

Commenting on what type of person the area is suited for Harford says, “Young professionals and couples. There’s plenty to do in the area, for adults and children alike, not to mention that the area is close to main roads.”

Talking about his favourite spot in the building, Harford says, “There’s nothing more relaxing than sipping something chilled at the café tables, or lying on my balcony sofa and looking out at the view of Lake Almas and Jumeirah Islands. I love it.”
