Sisters Beauty Lounge at JBR

Manicure lovers, you now have another option in new Dubai: Sisters, the home-grown brand that started in 2003, has opened a pretty new location — with art by contemporary artist Cate Parr — at Jumeirah Beach Residence. On the spa menu are treatments for hair, face, body, nails, eyelashes and eyebrows, including express packages. There’s also a coffee bar on site.

Amber goes mobile

You can now track your rewards from your phone. The loyalty programme by Al Tayer Group has launched an app (for Android and iPhone), which means you can see the special offers available to members (and enroll if you’re not already in it!). Even better: The app means you no longer need to carry the card, as you can earn and spend your points using the app. There’s also information about Amber participating stores and notifications of members’ only promotions. Brands you can earn and spend on include Bloomingdale’s — Dubai and Harvey Nichols, Crate and Barrel, Banana Republic and Gap, the new Whistles at City Walk, Coach and Jimmy Choo; you can also use it at restaurants such as Serendipity 3 (Dubai Festival City and City Walk), Almaz By Momo and Magnolia Bakery.

style!

Hipster hats, Aussie style

When it comes to looking cool but protecting yourself from the sun, we’d say Australians have it down pat. So it’s no surprise we’re in love with this label from Byron Bay, a surf town on the country’s east coast. The millinery brand fallenBROKENstreet is actually founded by surfer-artists Justin Crawford, Diva Cory and David Frim, and for now they’re available in the UAE via the website, with international shipping. We can see many of you grabbing the pretty straw boaters (search for Bambi) or the many felt styles, like this Triptych in grey.

BLACK by Splash

The high-street store is turning to the dark side with a rock’n’roll capsule collection launching on August 22. The pieces — all black, many embellished with rock-chic studs, zippers, mirrors and chains — include jackets, skirts, dresses and shirts. Get yours from Dh200-800. Although it’s a limited-edition capsule, Splash tells us some of the monochrome pieces will be updated each season.
