1. Covet!
Antonini Malibu collection
We allow ourselves to dream little dreams sometimes and this week's covetable items come from Italian jeweller Antonini. Known for naming their collections after places, towns or countries, the Antonini Malibu collection is inspired by the sunset of the famed beach town. There's blue topaz, bright green peridot and multicoloured stones in the form of bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Now available at Azal in Emirates Towers Boulevard. Price on request. 2. Buy!
Armani Jeans
Announced in November, the Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans + Rihanna capsule collection is now in the UAE. The Take Care singer is the face of the two Armani brands and the collection, according to the company, represents her "amazing verve and incredible energy". We're not sure what that really means but they're going for Dh4,600 for the leather jacket, Dh350 for the T-shirt and Dh1,400 for the black jeans.
Armani Jeans are available at the Mercato Mall and at the Armani Dubai store in The Dubai Mall.
3. Style!
Tramp in Disguise
There's a new fashion label in town in Dubai that's getting the fashion naughty in us all excited. Tramp in Disguise, founded by Finnish-born UK-based designer Sini Moilanen, is now stocked in the newly opened and interestingly named Shoreditch Muse boutique. Not for the faint-hearted, Moilanen's creations are edgy and modern and feature bold prints and patterns that's sure to brighten any day. We caught up with the designer recently:
When did you set up Tramp in Disguise?
The label was established in 2010; this is the 4th season we are working on at the moment.
Which celebrities have worn your clothes?
My clothes have been worn by singers Jessie J, Kate Nash, Charli XCX and actress Anna Friel has bought one of my dresses too. There could be more because celebrity stylists borrow my clothes all the time.
Tell us more about yourself.
I'm a Finnish born fashion designer and studied at the Royal College of Art in fashion design, specialising in knitwear design. Whilst a qualified master in Knitwear from RCA I taught myself print design and this features significantly in all collections.
My interest in fashion started when I was a teenager from reading fashion magazines and going to jumble sales and vintage stores to find myself unique outfits. I have always liked to draw, make art and make things with my hands.
What's the theme for your autumn-winter 2012 collection?
The autumn-winter 2012 has a Mexican theme. It consists of graphic prints and there are some chunky knitwear pieces too. The collection is still very colourful, but the use of colour is a bit more subtle compared to the spring-summer 2012 collection.
Besides Dubai, where else are your clothes stocked?
My clothes are stocked in five different stores in UK, most of them in London.
How did you end up in Shoreditch Muse?
I got introduced to the store through my PR Felicities in London.
What are you working on now?
I'm still working on the new autumn-winter 2012 collection. We are showing at London Fashion week on February 19 at Somerset House in a presentation called Felicities Presents. Then we are off to Paris Fashion Week where we are showing in a trade show called Zip Zone.
