Silk Route at the Arabian Courtyard Hotel is a small tranquil space right in the middle of Bur Dubai's bustling market.
The restaurant's interior has been designed to resemble that of a hut with bamboo-matted walls, rattan furniture and traditional Chinese fans, paintings and prints hanging on the walls, and little knick-knacks, smiling Buddhas and candles strewn around. A sushi-bar style dining experience is also available.
The alfresco seating on the terrace is an amazing experience, especially in the cooler months. Diners can watch the city go by as they enjoy a cup of Chinese herbal tea or a tall glass of fresh juice, among bites of some of the best Chinese and Thai cuisine the city has to offer.
“Silk Route offers dishes prepared by specialist Chinese and Thai chefs who have retained the original cooking styles,'' says Habib Khan, general manager of Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa. “Diners can also watch chefs showcase their skills in the see-through kitchen.''
There are plenty of tasty options available for vegetarians. Oriental cuisine can sometimes be on the spicy side depending on the dish you have, so it's a good idea to let the waiter know of your preference beforehand.
The dishes are reasonably priced — good news for the majority of us who are still trying to keep the purse strings tightened.
And if you have had too much of the special offer which goes on until August 31, step into Zaitoon Spa next door for a relaxing massage.
