Dubai: Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour has had its fair share of controversy-stirring day trips (such as hanging out with endangered animals in Thailand), but her photoshoot at Abu Dhabi’s Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque might just top them all.

The Barbadian singer, who performed in the capital on Saturday night, paid a visit to the white marble mosque and posted pictures on her Instagram account, Badgalriri, with the caption “Fashion Killaz in Abu Dhabi”.

Wearing a headscarf, as is required for female visitors to the mosque, a heavy gold necklace and a black jumpsuit covering her to her ankles and wrists, Rihanna posed for a series of photos by fashion photographers Steven Gomillion and Dennis Leupold.

The Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the UAE's biggest mosque, and is open to non-Muslims for daily tours.

Truly disgusting act. She shouldnot have done that. I am sure she would be stopped before. These people neither have any respect nor they ever learn to respect. They will do anything for money and cheap fame. So very atrocious act!

By no means what she did could be justified and is definitely a wrong gesture, however she had shown respect towards the dignity of Masjid & Islam by covering her full body. As Islam teaches tolerance, humility and forgiveness towards the non Muslims & all humans in general , therefore a notification of warning is more than enough and the management of the masjid already did that by stopping her photo shoot and asking her to leave.

"A #scarf is not #hijab. Hijab is the entire #outfit. She's just a playing with Muslims religion and why we forget that this is mosque not for fashion or bad pose.

Unbelievable.. how could the authorities let this happen? Letting non muslims visit mosques is a highly appreciable act of tolerance. But posing for photographers in this awkward manner in front of a mosque is pretty insulting. That too a singer of her reputation. Last time I visited the mosque, there were plenty of security personnels asking people to act appropriately and dress decently inside. Where were they when this took place?

Does she simply get preferential treatment for being a celebrity? Can any woman pose seductively at a religious site and get away with it? A mosque is a place of decorum, respect and worship. A fashion shoot is definitely inappropriate. I am all for any place of worship being opened to non-believers, but when the privilege is taken advantage of, it is distasteful and offensive.

This is just WROOOOONG. I don't understand how she was given clearance to photoshoot on a sacred place of worship!! Very disrespectful I find it.

This is un-acceptable as mosque is a sacred place of worship. Modelling and such postures should be strictly prohibited. Please don't allow this in future. Thanks.

It’s completely inappropriate for as it’s like humiliating the religious place of one person.I don’t thing any person would accept that a person like her goes to their religious site & does such a photoshoot!!
