Just like all the other fashion weeks, Haute Couture Week started with a bang and took Paris by storm. Leaving in its trial a string of decadent and delectable gems, the high-end fashion extravaganza, it seems, was the perfect moment for luxury brands to launch their biggest and brightest designs.

Reporting on the new collection by Bvlgari and Damiani as featured at the brands' showcasing events in the centre of Paris last week, tabloid! brings you the creme de la creme of haute jewellery.

With Napoleon perched on high in the centre of the luxurious Place Vendome, Dior, Fred, Boucheron, Damiani and Bvlgari formed a fortress around the bronze statue.

Defiant, triumphant and audacious — these high-end jewellery brands reigned in style during the week-long event hosting memorable presentations and showcases around the historical square.

At the Damiani event there was real atmosphere: a quaint and sophisticated charm fused with a high charge of passion (everything that Milan represents, and more). The Italian jewellery brand launched a divine new collection with Sharon Stone as the ambassador and model.

Damiani

A three-piece band featuring an accordion, a banjo and a guitar played popular French songs like Que Sera, Sera while the jewels enthralled and enchanted the guests.

Before long couples were waltzing away in the middle of the floor of the cozy boutique. There was nothing pretentious about the luxury brand's event, in fact, quite the opposite. Real, relaxed and tres romantic. Damiani's new collection, like its muse, is down-to-earth, smart and uber glamorous.

Here are some of the other stars from the Damiani portfolio. The refined, classic Colonial collection exclusively designed for men now has two new versions with precious stones. A touch of colour has been added to this sleek, softly contoured collection inspired by the famous clasp on the boxes of those masculine icons that celebrate a moment of relaxation: cigars.

This elegantly casual version features a light tiger- eye for a more nonchalant style, and a dark hawk-eye for men who want to be elegant even when more casually dressed.

All the jewellery in Damiani's Colonial collection — cufflinks, ring, necklace, money clip, and key chain — is decorated with a diamond mounted to one side.

The Damianissima collection, with a design inspired by the Damiani logo, has added a new element that combines the classic yet contemporary look of a solitaire jewel with the distinctive, fashionable style of the collection.

Punto Luce Damianissima is a "reversible" necklace with a setting attached to the sides of a stylised pink gold D — typical of this collection —that lets the pendant at its centre rotate. The diamond is the star of this pendant that expresses typical Damianissima style.

Chignon is a sublime collection. Interwoven braids of white gold clasped with a delicate rose gold band. A play of light illuminated using the delicate nature of the diamonds.

Harmony and synergy of concentric shapes skilfully made using alternating gaps and solids.

Diamonds that intertwine and uncoil in repeated geometric shapes. Embroidery of gold threads and pure diamonds that wind around each other and fly through the air, as light as woven lace of rare beauty.

Bvlgari

The Bvlgari event was more low-key, but just as luxurious. Showcased in the boutique was the brand's new Elisia collection. There's about 26 pieces in the collection all derived from the simple concept of two oval shapes placed inside one another and set-off with diamonds and other exotic precious stones.

Prices start from Dh43,280 (for a pair of earrings) and Dh52,000 (for a ring).

Other collections on display included a rich coral, sapphire and yellow gold necklace where the ultra-classical tones of African marble and the tufa stone of ancient columns of magical Roman architecture are illuminated by the sapphire blue sky like a dreamy silhouette in the coral red of the sunset.

- All the collections by Damiani will be available exclusively in Dubai at the Damiani boutique in BurJuman (new extension) and also at Azal, Emirates Towers Boulevard.

It's all in the Detail
Bvlgari's history dates back to the ancient script used in an advertising catalogue of the early 1900s that celebrated the historic store on Via dei Condotti in Rome, Italy.

This antique script is now stamped in contrast on the suede handbags or metal plaques of the daywear handbags, creating a unique and unmistakable line: the 1910 Collection for summer 2008.
