Monumental Inspiration
Designer J.J. Valaya, known for his rich couture lines, is to hold a preview of his spring-summer 2008 collection inspired by The Taj Mahal.
Leading Indian designer J.J. Valaya is in Dubai on y to hold a preview of his spring-summer 2008 collection for the Valaya Couture line this afternoon. The sneak look at the new line will be from 3pm to 6pm at his flagship store, J.J. Valaya Life, in Al Wasl Road, Dubai.
Journey
The collection, titled The Taj Blueprints, is an extension of his last autumn-winter line and revolves around a fictional world where one of America's best known architects, Frank Lloyd Wright, seeks inspiration from India's fabled Taj Mahal and attempts to create a contemporary tribute. This is the story of the journey of Wright's thought process where he struggles to give shape to a revolutionary concept without letting go of the core sentiment of the original.
Consultations
Valaya has used light and airy linens and georgette and custom-made prints in pale ivory and other pastel shades with detailed handmade embellishments to create a contemporary art deco-Indian look. The designer will also be available for private consultations by appointment today at J.J. Valaya Life.
First in dubai
Valaya is a founder member of the Fashion Design Council of India and was the first Indian designer to bring his collections to Dubai over a decade ago. He was also the first Indian designer to open a flagship store in the city.
