The annual black-tie amfAR gala kicked off the New York Fashion Week festivities on Wednesday at Cipriani Wall Street. French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, actress Rosario Dawson and music legend Harry Belafonte were recognised for their efforts to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
With an A-list attendance including Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Brooke Shields, Ivana Trump, Donna Karan and Camila Alves McConaughey, among others, the benefit raised more than $2 million (Dh7 million) for AIDS research.
While model Kendall Jenner looked stunning in a red hot gown by Romona Keveza, it was Heidi Klum’s “two friends” that dazzled the night.
“I have two friends with me tonight. Their names are Harry and Winston,” joked the supermodel, showing off a pair of 1.94-carat diamond Sunflower Cascading Earrings by jeweller Harry Winston, the sale proceeds of which went to the amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research). Klum’s platinum besties set with 54 round brilliant diamonds fetched $50,000.
