Stylish, elegant and of course blinging. Beach wear has never been more sparkly. Marg Talbi, a fashion designer from Australia is in Dubai promoting her new line of swimwear and resort outfits. And her label, Margaret Anne Fashions, is sure to put a twinkle in your eye.

Taking risks

As Talbi's creations were shown off to a crowd of almost 30 women at the Ritz Carlton Dubai, there were certainly a few that stood out.

Talbi is not afraid to take risks with her designs. They range from colourful, vibrant shades and patterns to simple black and white designs, whether they are bikinis, evening dresses or sarongs.

“I love to use Swarovski on the swimwear collection because it adds a touch of glamour,'' Talbi told Tabloid!

She has been designing clothes since an early age and strongly believes if anyone is interested in fashion, they have to have real passion and determination in order to succeed.

“I like to show sensuality. Some women do not swim but like to be by the beach or the pool. That's why the Swarovski designs are great,'' she said.

Tropical inspiration

When asked what drives her, the designer said her environment back home remains a great source of inspiration. After hearing her reasons why, I could hardly blame her.

“In Australia we have wonderful, luscious tropical flowers all around,'' Talbi said. “It's beautiful and I feel truly inspired when I am there. Even the mountains, sea and the sky leave me in awe. It's all amazing.''

After learning basic drawing in south Australia, Talbi worked as a fashion illustrator for 20 years before turning her hand to her own creations. With the industry taking notice, Talbi has just exhibited her collection in Paris after being invited to take part in the Prêt a Porter fashion exhibition prior to coming to Dubai.

Moving memories

During our chat, she recalled an earlier trip to Paris with her parents when she was around 8 years old. It was during this trip she realised she wanted to be a designer.

“I remember walking down Pont Neuf by the Seine and there were all these artists there busy with their drawings. It was that moment that truly moved me,'' she said.

The problem is that everyone is anxious about certain sudden changes, including you. But while you're biding your time until you learn more, others are taking action, and it isn't always well thought out. The best strategy? For now – distract them.
