What more can I say? Ladies and gents, spring-summer 2009 is going to be a rocking, fantastic season. You've been warned! From the music to the muses, this season's fashion festivities in the French capital have all been about retro, romance and above all, rock.

Paloma Picasso and Princess Stephanie were the ever-glamorous muses for designer Stuart Vevers at the Loewe show, while the idea of a rock star-cool performer that was the dominant theme elsewhere — Karl Lagerfeld even sent a white quilted leather guitar case down the runway at Chanel.

It's great when the big guns deliver but it's even better when some newer and more exciting brands get a piece of the action. My fashion week star has to be new Korean designer Doii, formerly of Kenzo and Galliano — she really rocks!
When it comes to Parisian audiences, however, there's a lot to be desired. The lucky folks at Chanel were decked out in Chanel gear, and wore Barbara Bui for — you guessed it — the Barbara Bui show, and so on and so forth.

In the streets outside the shows, those not kitted out from head to toe in the designer-de-jour's last season collection were the true fashionistas in my book. But sadly there weren't too many of them.

But rock and fashion are still a perfect mix — the first bringing edginess to formerly staid labels; the latter lending a touch of class to somewhat flighty musicians. It's a perfectly symbiotic relationship and best exemplified in Paris, the capital of the country where you can go from being a relatively unknown musician/former model to being the First Lady. Now that rocks.
