Nadia Ahmad is taking the UAE by storm with her dazzlingly eye-catching Swarovski crystal N Collection
Bling accessories are all the rage now. Eva Longoria, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Kimberley Stewart and Sarah Jessica Parker have all been spotted sporting sparkling crystal-studded mobile phones and other accessories.
UAE's fashionistas can follow this hot trend too thanks to an exclusive crystallising service by Sharjah-based designer Nadia Ahmad's label N Collection.
Design diva
Nadia uses Swarovski crystals to create beautiful designs on accessories such as mobile phones, Bluetooth headsets, iPods, laptops, USB sticks, cameras, pens, pencils, compact mirrors, hand bags and files.
Customers can choose from the wide variety of designs available on the N Collection website or have customised designs created for them ranging from hand-painted motifs embellished with crystals to portraits of people they admire or even their own portrait in multicoloured crystals.
"Custom crystallisation is a great way to add an air of exclusivity and luxury to everyday accessories making them something special and adding flair to your outfit, office or life. It is also a fun way to rejuvenate and jewel up an old accessory,"says Nadia.
"Arab women love glitter and I knew this trend would be popular here. But before launching this service I spent a lot of time developing my unique designs and perfecting the technique. We use the best quality certified Swarovski crystals and are the only ones in the region offering crystallised portraits,"she said.

The service has been well received not only by customers from the UAE but also from abroad.
"UAE residents prefer to bring their own gadgets and accessories for crystallisation. But I have also had several online orders from the UK, India and Pakistan where customers asked me to buy specific models of laptops, cell phones and other gadgets and crystallise them,"says Nadia.
"Interesting orders include one from two friends for identical designs and from mothers who wish to have their child's portrait on their cell phones,"she adds.
The designer, who is of Pakistani origin and Emirati by marriage, is already well known for her exclusive and colourful shaylas and abayas.
Family support
"I began designing outfits for my daughters and other family members as a hobby. Lots of requests from friends and acquaintances for similar designs encouraged me to launch my label N Collection in 2003,"says Nadia. She now has a boutique in Qanat Al Qasba, Sharjah.
"At N Collection we understand that people strive to be unique and want their clothes and accessories to reflect that. My shayla and abaya collections are always created in limited editions of 30 or 40 pieces and, similarly, I encourage my customers to be creative and pick unique crystallised designs and colours that best suit their taste,"she says.
