Earlier this month Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made a return to the fashion world with her friend designer Manish Malhotra’s show. Rai Bachchan had looked fresh and fit on the ramp, sporting a natural look and let the dress take centrestage.
Rai Bachchan keeps the same fresh look in her comeback film Jazbaa, as is evident from the trailer released Tuesday, August 25. Director Sanjay Gupta wished to present the actress with a different look and in an action-packed character.
“Though Jazbaa will star Aishwarya, it won’t use her ultra-glamorous personality to light up the frames. She will glow from within,” Gupta had said to the Indian media last year.
In the film, which is said to be a remake of the 2007 Korean film Seven Days, the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam actress plays a lawyer named Anuradha Verma whose daughter has been kidnapped and she is coerced into fighting a criminal case for a rapist and murderer. And she has four days to have him freed. The trailer shows her both as a hard-hitting lawyer and a vulnerable mother.
Moreover, Rai Bachchan has performed all the action scenes without a body double. International action director Spiro Razatos (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Back to the Future and Furious Seven), who has worked earlier on Hindi films such as Kaante and My Name Is Khan, was signed on to coordinate her scenes.
The film seems dramatic with edge-of-the-seat intense scenes by Rai Bachchan.
Also starring in the film is Irrfan Khan as Yohan, an out-of-work policeman, Shabana Azmi a college professor and Jackie Shroff as an ambiguous grey character.
The trailer was to release on Thursday, August 20, and was to be played with the release of Abhishek Bachchan’s film All is Well. The film, produced by White Feather Films in association with Essel Vision, will release in India on October 9.
After Jazbaa, Rai Bachchan will be seen in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma and in a biopic on Sarabjit Singh who was taken prisoner and died in a Pakistani jail in May 2013. She will play Singh’s sister in the Omung Kumar film.
