This weekend’s eating out has (at least) two new brunches and one high-rise picnic. Here’s our must-try round-up.
The lovely (if pricey) Bombay Brasserie in the Taj Hotel in Business Bay is taking on the brunch crowd with its Bombay Brunch, serving Indian dishes with influences from Parsi, Goan, Bengali and Gujarati cuisines, and also the colonial flavours of the Portuguese and British. The open kitchen will serve an unlimited tasting menu of dishes brought to the table. It runs from 1-4pm, and three packages are available, from Dh295. Call 04-4383222.
For a more casual vibe, Riva’s BBQ by the Beach afternoons are back with barbecued meat and seafood served with a side of Palm Jumeirah views. It’s on Fridays and Saturdays, 1-4pm, Dh99 per plate. It’s in Building 8, The Shoreline; call 04-4309466.
For sea views from above, Pure Sky Lounge at the Hilton in JBR has built a garden serving a picnic brunch on the 35th floor. You’ll get a wicker basket of sandwiches, quiche, wraps and a jug of your favourite drink plus a blanket for the grass. This easy-going brunch lets you turn up anytime on Saturdays from 2-10pm. Bring a friend: It’s Dh300 per couple. Call 04-3747888.
