Dubai: Dubai-based Kempinski Trading’s president and chief executive, Gemil Uestuen, has resigned, according to a company statement on Thursday.

Uestuen, who joined the procurement management company in 1998, delivered procurement solutions and Kempinski brand standards to hotels. Until a successor is announced, Till Schaefer will act as interim managing director, as per the statement.

Kempinski Trading is a business unit of Kempinski, a luxury hotel group.

A separate statement on Thursday showed that Ulrich Eckhardt, the group’s president for the Middle East and Africa retired on Wednesday. Bugra Berberoglu, SVP Operations for the Middle East and Africa, also left the group.

Globally, Duncan O’Rourke has stepped down from his role as Chief Operating Officer of Kempinksi Hotels. He is succeeded by Marcus van der Wal.

Kempinski’s management board members are now: Alejandro Bernabé, chief executive, Markus Semer, deputy chief executive, Marcus van der Wal, chief operating officer, and Colin Lubbe, chief financial officer.

Kempinski has 72 five-star hotels in 30 countries. It manages 19 hotels in the Middle East, Africa and India, with a further 15 under development or construction.
