Academy award-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty says the upcoming Hrithik Roshan movie Kaabil relies heavily on sound.

Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Kaabil features the Krrish star and actress Yami Gautam as a blind couple. The film reportedly chronicles the journey of a blind man who avenges the death of his girlfriend.

Pookutty says he has been working hard to give the romantic-thriller the perfect sound.

Kaabil is hugely sound-oriented script. It is the first time in Hindi cinema where we will be analysing ways of hearing. For me that’s a big challenge,” Pookutty said.

“We have done a few test sequences and are fine tuning some of the tests that we are doing on the sound. It is going to be an exciting experience with regards to the sound,” he said.

The 45-year-old sound designer, who has worked with Gupta earlier in films such as Musafir and Dus Kahaniyaan, says the filmmaker puts complete trust in him which makes the job easier.

“Sanjay [Gupta] trusts me completely. We have an excellent rapport. He gives the film to me and only comes to watch the final mix. That’s the kind of trust he has, and values me immensely as a colleague.

“I think the kind of trust he puts on me, gives me a more sense of responsibility, and the fact that there is so much of faith, gives me joy to do things to the best of my ability,” he said.

Produced by Rakesh Roshan, Kaabil also stars Ronit Roy, Rohit Roy, Narendra Jha among others.

The film is set to release on January 26 in India.
