Critically acclaimed Iranian director Majid Majidi’s first India-set film Beyond the Clouds is set to hit the theatres in India on April 20.

The movie, which marks the debut of Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother Ishaan Khatter and Malayalam actress Malavika Mohanan, was earlier scheduled to release on March 23 in India.

Producer Shareen Mantri Kedia of Namah Pictures said: “[Majidi] is a visionary whose emotional connectivity and narrative transcends the boundaries and limitations of language. We are glad that audiences and fans across the globe will now be able to simultaneously share the experience of Majid Majidi’s magic as it comes alive on April 20th.”

Sujay Kutty, business head of Zee Studios, said the change in the release was because they wanted to have a date that works across the globe.

“The film has many firsts for us to be proud of — an all India team under Mr Majidi’s leadership, a platform for two brilliant debutants and an India story showcased by such a legendary artist. We decided to make this change in the release date as not everyday do you get such an opportunity with such promise and such brilliant talent,” he said.

Majidi is best known for classics such as The Song of Sparrows, Baran, The Color of Paradise and Children of Heaven.

Beyond the Clouds was filmed at numerous locations in the country. Composer AR Rahman has done the music for the movie, which also happens to be his second project with Majidi.
