Dubai: Future initiatives about to be implemented in the UAE along with investments in technology will transform the way UAE media will be in the next decade, said Malek Al Malek, Chief Executive Officer of Tecom Free Zone Business Parks before the closing of the Emirates Media Forum.

Leading the last session called ‘What the next decade holds for the UAE media’, Malek spoke about how the media industry in the UAE blossomed over the past decade and said “the future holds more, but investments in different sectors are necessary in order to enhance and develop the media here”.

He said many initiatives following the national strategy of innovation and the vision of the leaders will take media to new levels in the future.

“Investment in technology will change how we deal with things. In the coming 10 years, we will be called screen human beings and the tools we have imagined will be available to us,” he said.

Among the things he said that will need to be transformed are the educational programmes in media schools.

“Continuing to develop the skills and talents of students who graduate from media majors is required. A lot of the media programmes here focus on traditional media and this means there’s a need to upgrade the educational programme to fit the recent media trends,” he said.

Malek said through such programmes “UAE will be attracting people from around the world to join these programmes, and this in turn will create more jobs in the new media and will enhance it as well”.
