Dubai: The second edition of the two-day Royal India Luxury Show kicked off in Dubai on Thursday. The event was opened by Yuvraj Sambhaji Chhatrapati Maharaj, scion of the Kolhapur royal family, in the presence of Indian Ambassador to the UAE, T P Seetharam, the show’s organisers said in a statement on Thursday.

The show featured 22 exhibitors from the travel, hospitality, leisure, fashion, jewellery and entertainment industries. “The Arab world constitutes an integral part of India’s extended neighbourhood and is a region of critical importance in political, strategic, security and economic terms,” Seetharam said in a statement.

Maharaj, meanwhile, expects the event to enhance luxury tourism in India. “I hope the Royal India Luxury Show will fulfil the aspirations of the affluent living in the Middle East and expectations about the luxury and class out of India. I hope it will create an insight into the splendid Indian lifestyle and luxury travel options for the affluent. This event will enhance the luxury tourism in India at a global marketplace and the Middle East, especially the UAE,” he stated.

Among the exhibitors at the show were the Ministry of Tourism, Cox & Kings, Ramoji Film City, Air Aura, Sansha, Woodland and Jaypee Green Golf Course & Spa Resort.

While Dubai commands 30 per cent of the Middle East’s and 60 per cent of the UAE’s luxury market, the UAE tops the list of tourists coming from Middle Eastern countries to India, with a steady year-on-year increase, according to the show organisers.
