Occupied Jerusalem: As the sun dipped below the Mediterranean horizon, thousands of Palestinian families packed into the iftar tents run by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation during Ramadan in the West Bank.

People from refugee camps, rehabilitation and women empowerment centres as well as other neighbourhoods walked towards the iftar halls where hot meals were served to end the fast in Ramadan.

The mass iftar programme organised by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation covered 19 refugee camps where food packets were distributed.

Over 55,000 Palestinians have benefitted from this programme, which was organised in cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East — UNRWA and representatives from the local community.

This is the second year in a row that the Khalifa Charity Foundation, UNRWA and local community centres have teamed up to organise iftar programmes.
