Driven to distraction on our roads
Take a look at these photographs. In each, you will see traffic laws being openly flouted. Drivers reading papers, others talking on mobile phones or busy sending text messages, more blatantly ignoring road signs or riding on the safety shoulder, while others place children at risk. Children without seat belts or car seats ride in front seats, more clamber over drivers as cars travel our roads. These images, captured by Staff Photographers Virendra Saklani and Ahmed Kutty, show everyday instances of safety violations by motorists, which are supposed to result in black points and fines. However, all these incidents went undetected. And, sadly enough, each one of these could have resulted in serious injuries or even deaths.
