New vocational centre
Aims to boost training and educational opportunities
A new centre to oversee vocational and training education will be established in Abu Dhabi.
General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has issued a resolution setting up the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training Centre, which will oversee vocational and training education and training in the emirate. Shaikh Mohammad has also issued a resolution appointing Hussain Ahmad Al Hammadi as the new centre's Director General of the centre.
Human resources
The centre, which will be financially and administratively subordinate to the executive council, aims to boost training and education opportunities within the legal framework of the emirate and develop human resources plans for this sector.
It will also be responsible for laying down plans, strategies and policies in coordination with the relevant authorities, which will in turn have to be approved by the executive council.
Setting standards
Among the other responsibilities of the new centre are setting standards, conditions and controls for vocational and technical education and training in the emirate, including licensing vocational and technical trainers and teachers, providing advice and services to the emirate's governmental and private institutions, qualifying trainees to meet the demands of labour market, creating a database on vocational and technical education and training, conducting and applying researches in coordination with Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC) and developing strategic partnerships with public and private educational and training institutes.
