Time for the creative juices to start flowing
Arts Surprises, the second themed week of DSS, will be officially launched at Modhesh Fun City in the Dubai World Trade Centre tonight.
Dubai: Arts Surprises, the second themed week of DSS, will be officially launched at Modhesh Fun City in the Dubai World Trade Centre tonight.
Organisers say Arts Surprises will offer an amazing line-up of events targeting all age-groups. The entire week, which ends July 5, boasts a variety of art-related events ranging from drawing and painting to theatre and music.
Organsied by the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department, Arts Surprises starts this morning with a colourful array of 25 events being held at various venues throughout Dubai.
A huge variety of workshops are on offer to stir up childrens' creative juices. Classes on sand art, face painting and pottery painting feature almost every day. Several competitions to showcase children's talents in music, singing, dancing and painting are being held throughout the week in different malls of Dubai. A major highlight of the week, say organisers will be a display of the paintings of winners of Emirates International Student Creativity Contest 2006 at BurJuman.
The opening ceremony is organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and will feature 30 students from schools throughout the emirate. They will be staging a musical in Arabic called 'We are here' at the Modhesh Main Stage in Modhesh Fun City.
International folk lorre shows including a Spanish band called Los Rancheros comprising of 10 performers from Spain and the FBI musicians from France have come down especially to perform during the Arts Surprises week. They are staging half an hour shows on different days of the themed week in various Dubai malls including Burjuman, Al Ghurair City, Ibn Battuta Mall, Mercato, and Al Reef Mall.
And a magic show by Chinese artists will also be dazzling the DSS crowds. The Art of Dress and Face changing is a 20 minute show that completely transforms the look and behaviour of the performers leave the audience in awe.
