Dubai: Some of the world's favourite fairy tales have been given an icy twist at numerous Dubai shopping malls taking part in the DSS' activity initiative.
Plays including the timeless classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are being acted out on purpose-built ice rinks inside some local shopping malls during Ice Surprises Week, the first of ten themes weeks during DSS.
The age-old fairy tale is taking place at BurJuman in two shows every even-ing from 5.30 to 6.15pm and 8 to 8.15pm every day until June 28.
Meanwhile, Mercato Mall is also getting in on the act with the Arabic play Al Enhiar Al Thanljy. The play is about a little girl who goes to visit her grandmother, but loses her way and is finally able to find the right way with the help of a stranger who gives her a map.
The musical play is being shown every evening from 6 to 6.30pm and 8 to 8.30pm and features 14 performers. Laced with 14 songs the musical combines synchronised music and visuals.
Not to be left out, Hamarain Centre is staging several showings of two Arabic plays, The Magical Well and Ma Yana Al Thalj, each 25 minutes long.
The shows are complemented by magic tricks and competitions and are being held every evening between 5 and 10pm. Ma Yana Al Thal will be hosted by popular singer Abdullah Bin London.
