Dubai: Since the launch of the Calendar of Events for Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2008, the festival has attracted an immense response for its retail registration that has touched 1,500 in less than two weeks.

The Dubai Summer Surprises will run until August 22.

Suhaila Gobash, DSS sponsorship manager, said: "The response witnessed for retail registration this year has been great and it only affirms the popularity of DSS as an economic catalyst during summer."

"We aim to attract a larger number of retail participants this year to provide diversified options for shopping and an enhanced shopping experience."

Supervision

All participating retail outlets will be under the supervision of the DSF Office to ensure that they abide by the stipulated rules and regulations.

Non-participating retail outlets and restaurants will not be allowed by the Department of Economic Development or the Dubai Municipality to conduct any kind of promotion or sales during DSS to ensure fair retail practices.

Retailers who wish to submit their applications may do so by visiting the Dubai Shopping Festival Office on the first floor of Dubai Economic Department building, between 9am and 4 pm on working days.

The retail outlets applying for the 'Summer Deals' can pay the relevant fees at the time of registration in cash or cheque.

If the mode of payment is by cheque, it should be made payable to the Department of Economic Development. Once the form is submitted, a DSS participation certificate will be issued.
