Dubai: Grade 10 and Grade 12 results for some Indian examination systems will out on May 6, two weeks earlier than scheduled, said officials of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) in New Delhi.

In the UAE, nearly 300 students of grade 10 have appeared for the Indian Certificate for Secondary Examination (ICSE) from four schools and 120 students of grade 12 have appeared for the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination.

The 2016 examination results for grade 10 and grade 12 have been brought forward due to the deployment of a sophisticated computerised system that eliminates manual compilation of marks, said Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the CISCE.

“The New Live Ink Character Recognition (LICR) technology that we are using digitally captures the marks on the top sheets of answer scrips, encrypts and transfers it to the Council’s cloud-based servers,” Arathoon said.

Arathoon added that the examiners continue their assessment the way they did earlier. “The system takes the marks awarded, automatically totals them, applies the question paper rubrics and thereby eliminates manual totalling errors and manual rubric application errors.”

Nerdish Khambatta, principal of Dubai’s Gems Modern Academy that follows the ICSE and ISC system, said the school, parents and students are happy to get the results earlier. “It is a great decision that will give a head start, especially in case of grade 12 students who had taken conditional admissions and will have enough time now to make their decision now that they have their result two weeks in advance.”

The results will be available on the Careers portal of the CISE website at 1.30pm UAE time on May 6. Schools can use the principal’s log in and password to access the results.
