Hairstylist to the stars and style director at the Daniel Galvin Salon in London, Asgar Saboo, has picked his top three styles for summer, as seen on Selena Gomez, Rihanna and Rita Ora.

Sleek, middle-parted bun as seen on Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez

Hollywood startlet Selena Gomez has recently been spotted at the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival in Italy. Her sleek, middle parted low bun looked both sexy and sharp. This was a hairstyle which Selena Gomez sported to accept her Ischia Kids Global Icon Award this July. Not only does this hairstyle provide an elegant touch to any outfit, it always gives off an air of ‘I mean business’ and can be so easily put together.

Simply brush through freshly washed hair so that hair appears smooth, creating a neat, tight middle-parting. If your hair is naturally wavy or curly, use a blow dryer in order to dry it more smoothly, ensuring to use heat protectant.

Once hair has been smoothed, gather it all into a ponytail, at medium to upper height on the head and secure with an elastic hairtie, securing with pins especially if your hair is thick with natural wave.

Then, coil the ponytail around itself making sure to tuck the end under the bun you have formed. Add more pins to secure the bun. Give the the bun a generous coat of hair spray. Not only will this help hold the sleek bun in place, but it will also give a shine to the hair.

Loose, tousled curls as seen on Rihanna

The world could not miss Rihanna celebrating at this year’s World Cup Final in Brazil. The Bajan beauty was seen sporting loose, tousled curls which dressed up her casual, sporty look to a tee.

In the summer heat and humidity, I recommend curls as the humidity is likely to make hair more volumous and wavy in any case. If your hair is naturally wavy, then applying a syrum or natural oil to hair before and after styling can help prevent any static or poofiness.

For those with naturally straight hair, rollers or heat curlers can be used to create waves. Use heat protection to avoid hair damage when styling. The tousled look often works best with a middle-parting, as this allows the waves to fall equally on either side of the crown, as seen on Rihanna who wore her flowing and wavy locks brilliantly.

Rita Ora channeling Marilyn Monroe curls

I absolutely loved the the blown out curls which Rita Ora was seen with in her shots for her Roberto Cavalli campaign debut this summer.

Since glamour looks good all year round, why not add a touch for the summer season too? Simply comb some mild hair mousse into freshly washed hair and section it off to blow dry. Once dried, maintain the same sections and set with hot rollers. Once the rollers are ready to remove, give the hair a very light comb and apply finish spray above and below the curls.
