Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presided over the graduation ceremony of the fourth cohort of Al Ain University of Science and Technology’s students, held at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Humaid Al Qutami, Minister of Education, and Dr Mughir Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council, other shaikhs, dignitaries, representatives of public and private institutions, members of the board of trustees, and the graduates’ families attended the event.

Shaikh Hamdan congratulated the graduates, noting that the graduation ceremony “is an occasion fitting to express deep loyalty and pride of the UAE in light of values and principles that focus on the betterment of individuals and human development.”

He added, “It is well-known that the UAE fosters education and continuously ensures the availability of sound planning and effective implementation. The UAE relies on the wise vision of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the directives by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, giving their attention to enhancing the capabilities of every individual in society for successful performance and creative competitiveness.”

Prof Ghaleb Al Refae, AAU President, said, “The graduation ceremony is a recurring occasion allowing us to extend our deep gratitude to the leaders of the UAE for the attention they have given to human development in the UAE. On this occasion, we wish to express our gratitude and appreciation to the AAU Board of Trustees and salute their effort and diligence in underlining the foundations of distinction in AAU’s path and deepening the elements of quality and excellence in all its achievements.”

Congratulating the graduates, Prof Al Refae said that every one of the graduates should live up to expectations, and be the best representative of his university in the community through ideal manners and sound reasoning.

The ceremony celebrated the graduation of 720 students from the colleges of Engineering and Information Technology, Pharmacy, Law, Education, and Business Administration, in addition to the Professional Diploma in Teaching programme and the Master of Business Administration (MBA).
