Dubai: Research has highlighted that more than 37 per cent of people in the UAE and 26 per cent in Saudi Arabia suffer from hypertension, known as ‘the silent killer’ due to its rare display of symptoms, organisers of the Arab Health Congress said.

Affordability of medication, compliance with treatment and the barriers of lifestyle changes are key concerns for the region, and to help address these, the Arab Health Congress has introduced a new conference endorsed by the European Hypertension Society.

The congress, titled the first Gulf Hypertension Conference, aims to provide the most up-to-date clinical and scientific data to tackle the disease with greater and earlier awareness and will bring together more than 30 renowned experts to discuss current and future challenges and solutions for hypertension in the Middle East.
