I'm sure the high rise bldgs in Sheikh Zayed Road are built with enough capacity to withstand such tremors. Its only if a massive earthquake hits that you need to be worried. I'm sure God will not let such calamities strike such a great nation.

Hi, There should be a common labour law for employees to move out immediately as some heartless managers and heads sitting in companies think that they purchased someone's life.. They don't let their staff go out in such critical conditions... It was very high magnitude but luckily it was deep which makes it safe but it could be higher and reoccurring also.. So please make law to let the staff go out in these critical conditions.

We were in the training room for some refresher course and giving test when all of us felt the aftershocks & the instructor did not ask us to evacuate but few seconds later a security came in the class room and asked all of us to leave the building, surprising some people don't follow safety rules.

I too have a "story" to tell: I was sleeping, when suddenly i woke up to a tremor near my head...it was my phone on vibrate! Ok now on a serious note, what was felt in the UAE is NOTHING compared to what was felt at the SOURCE. Focus on the situation in Iran and Pakistan how devastating the situation must be!! They experienced the EARTHQUAKE - not us!! My sympathy goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones, as for everyone else, get back to work!

Was in the kitchen preparing pizza for my family when the earthquake struck. At first i felt that my body was shaking then when i looked at the window,it appeared to be shaking too.Immediately all of us vacated the house and went down from the 13th floor in the lift. The lift was packed with the other residents. When we reached down could see many people standing under their buildings. Was the worst experience ever

Yesterday was the third time in two weeks that our office building on SZR was evacuated; the first time was due to a flood and the second and third were due to the tremors felt as a result of the eathquakes in Iran. It astonishes me how blase people are about their own safety nevermind other peoples. Many people on all three occasions took the lift because they were too lazy to take the stairs. Many people (it has to be said mostly women) in my office and I'm sure in other offices, were busy filling their hand bags with items before they decided to evacuate. Other people didn't even bother to evacuate the building. No assistance whatsoever was provided by the security staff in evacuating the building on all three occasions. When I decended the stairs in my building on two of the abovementioned occsions there were obstructions on the stair well. We are lucky that these incidents were minor. However, such incidents should ALWAYS be taken seriously because at the time who knows what might happen. These incidents should pose as a warning and a reminder. Handbags and their contents are replacable, lives aren't. Being out of breath from taking the stairs is better than being trapped in a lift and maybe never getting out alive. Next time, we might not be so lucky.

We were in a meeting ... felt dizzy but never thought of the earthquake... Immediately we rushed out of the building... Fortunately everyone knows now how to take precautions at the time of the natural calamities. God save the earth and sympathy for those who affected in Iran and other parts of the world.

I was in Ajman sitting on ground floor in my laboratory. small shake I felt first and I thought maybe my revolving chair is tilting. then second shake and suddenly I realized it was an earthquake. I ran out of my lab and found all our medical university students and staff who had been sitting in the library on first floor had come out into open space and were talking about the tremor they had felt. in my 13 years in the UAE this was the first experience. we were all praying to the almighty that nothing should happpen. Thanks to almighty!!

I was at home for afternoon break at around 2.50 pm on 16-04-2013. I was standing on the balcony of 9th floor of Shaikh Hamdan Building on Al Maktoum street in Deira. I felt tremors, like I was on a slow motion saddle. I entered the room and sat on the bed and I could feel it moving, the hanging bulb was moving, the clothes hangers. At one time I thought the building would rattle down. I start remembering Allah and reading Ayat. My 6 month old child was on my lap and he was sleeping. I felt the tremors for a duration of around 50 to 60 min. This was my second experience of ground motion after September 2008 termor in UAE. May Allah keep all of us safe from such calamities . Ameen.
