While Yalumba’s (Le Meridien Dubai Hotel) raucous Friday brunch needs no introduction, its evening brunch is more of a quieter cousin. Held on Thursdays, its Bubbles & Vibes offers a great variety and a huge selection, from Chinese and Indian to Arabic, barbecue and plenty of seafood.
Seated out on the cosy terrace to revel in the beautiful weather (there are heaters too), we started with some salmon and asparagus salad, chicken tikka salad and our favourite, the sweet and creamy beetroot goat cheese salad.
Five-a-day targets almost met, we launched into the variety of dim sums, then sushi and sashimi, and various grilled meats, followed by Indian and Arabic favourites – yes there’s chicken curry, and yes there’s biryani.
The meats were juicy, tender and generously seasoned, the dim sums full on flavour, good luxurious mouthfuls.
Another highlight is the plenty of seafood on offer, from lobster and oysters to king fish, red mullet and salmon – good chunks of grilled or fried and a fantastic fish feast overall.
Dessert was also a wonderful affair. There’s a whole cheese station. Then there’s a chocolate fountain, passion fruit custard, various ice cream flavours, cheesecake and a horde of other cakes... it’s all there, and it’s all delish.
The staff were attentive the whole while without breathing down our necks.
We loved The extensive seafood choices.
We hated For a brunch that’s called Bubbles & Vibes, we didn’t feel all that much of a vibe, with a real quiet, brightly lit indoors area.
Verdict It’s one for the foodies, a great treat at the end of a long work week.
